Talking in Parenthesis

Ramblings and angst from a mostly stay at home mom

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us. It is in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. -Nelson Mandela

9/11

Five years, hard to believe it has been that long ago and hard to believe it has been only 5 years. I always wondered how an event could so effect people that everybody remembered where they were when it happened. It always fascinated me when my Grandparents talked about Pearl Habor or my parents talked about President Kennedy. I guess we understand now. I was walking the dog this morning remembering, remembering the things that stuck out the most, other than the loss of life. For me it was the silence. We lived under the flight path of Denver International Airport, planes noise was a constant, white noise. The thing that sticks out the most was the silence, with all the planes grounded it was silent, surreal. And then out of the silence every so often the huge roar of the military jets on patrols. I will never forget that. In fact I have never looked at the jets the same since and probably never will.
