Talking in Parenthesis

Ramblings and angst from a mostly stay at home mom

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us. It is in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. -Nelson Mandela

Three Things Thursday

After reading other posts I was thinking about books I like to re-read. I am a big re-reader. It is not uncommon for me to re-read all the books in a series before I read the new one, actually one of my favorite things to do. But these TTT will be stand alone books.

1. The World According To Garp by John Irving. My absolute favorite John Irving book, I think I have owned 4 copies of this book, because they have worn out.

2.Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil by John Berendt. The book is much better than the movie, although I enjoyed the movie. The characters are even better in the book.

3. Mystic River by Dennis Lehane. Another book made into a movie. This movie was amazing one of my favorites, but the book blows it away.

I liked both movies of #2 & #3. Now I'll have to check out the book.
