Talking in Parenthesis

Ramblings and angst from a mostly stay at home mom

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us. It is in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. -Nelson Mandela

Three Things Thursday

IT is snowing here today. We have about six inches so far and too many broken tree branches to count. My poor elderberry bush broke off about 4 feet from the ground. So with the snow as my inspiration these are the 3 things I like to do when it snows out.

1. Curl up on the couch and read

2 Make a huge fire and just watch it

3. Bake, usually something with cinnamon, apple crisp anybody?

Three Things Thursday

Don't know what happened to last week. I thought I had saved the TTT that I had written earlier but I guess not...
In an hour or so Ms Emma and I are getting ready for a girls day out, lunch out and Halloween shopping. So with that in mind I thought I would do my three most memorable Halloween costumes.

1. This was kindergarten, I was a fairy. Complete with wings and a wooden wand that my dad made and painted with metallic gold paint. I loved that wand.

2. In second grade I was an Olympic gymnast, this was the Halloween after Nadia and her perfect 10 in the 1976 Olympics. The bad part of this costume was it only worked for the school party. Here in Denver the weather is almost as freezing a lot of the time snowing so you always have to wear you heavy winter coat under your costume. That didn't work with this costume so I trick or treated in the stand by clown costume.

3. In 5th I had what I thought at the time was a great original idea. I was a kleenex. I used a pink sheet and wrote ACHOO across it. Although I ended up having to explain to everybody what I was. I did get a lot of candy that year but I think it was because people felt sorry for me.

Three Things Thursday

So sorry I missed last week. Been working crazy hours and not on the computer much. So since I have been working so much and I need to relax I think I will use that as a theme. Three of my favorite ways to relax...

1. Fall into a book, read with total absorption, not looking up every few sentences.
2. Cross stitch.
3. Pop in one of my favorite movies or watch a Criminal Intent marathon.

I think I am going to go do the stitch one now...
